My first travel guide book
I was never a great book reader but, today I received my first travel guide book. The book is Lonely Planet County Guide to Bhutan which I purchased at the Flipkart store for INR 1184. It was a long four day wait before the book was delivered to me today in the afternoon.
Why I want to travel Bhutan?
The reason – budget. Bhutan is still considered as a Least Developed Country (LDC) by the United Nations. So, obviously the stay there would not be much of an expense. Also I can travel by road to Bhutan so I need not shell out money on flight transfers. Then Indian citizens don’t need a visa to enter Bhutan not even a passport is mandatory, but any identification card provided by the Government Of India is would be needed. Now the main reason why I wanted to travel here – Bhutan is unique. The scenic beauty, the undisturbed culture, the colorful festivals, breathtaking Buddhist monasteries all provide a serene environment which is unique to my daily life.
Bhutan is very tough to travel. This accounts to the factor that Bhutan is one of the country which has high altitudes over the other countries. Moreover the lack of proper roads and transports would pose problems to the tourists who are traveling on their own.
My opinion about this book
I almost read one fourth of the book in two hours and I would say it a well created book actually I would say well crafted. Only, the first few pages are colorful and unlike the other guides which are filled with photographs, this book has limited visuals. This might not be pleasing to most readers but on the other hand it creates a sense of curiosity about the places they are going to travel. It contains loads of maps, guides to cities, reviews about hotels and restaurants, things to do, places to shop and all other information. I would give this book a 5/5 rating.
For people not residing in India, the book is available on Amazon.
