Europe’s Hottest Travel Destinations for 2022
Whether for a short break or a longer holiday, a family trip or romantic getaway, planning a trip to one of Europe’s historic cities is always a good idea. Here are five incredible European destinations that are a must visit for this year.
Berlin, Germany
Berlin is one of the incredible European destinations and is one of the several iconic European cities which are steeped in history; Berlin was home to some of the most pivotal moments of the 20th century.
Visit the Brandenburg Gate and wonder around the Reichstag, before taking a walk along what remains of the Berlin Wall. For a sobering experience, visit the House of the Wannsee Conference – where the Holocaust was planned – before visiting the Holocaust Memorial.
The nightlife scene in Berlin is extremely vibrant. From hidden basement bars to mega-clubs and options to suit all budgets, Berlin is a paradise for party-goers.
Add world-class Arts & Culture, a thriving entrepreneurial landscape and a young, creative population, and Berlin really is one-of-a-kind. Whilst you are there, be sure to visit one of Berlin’s many famous museums.
London, United Kingdom
A wonderful blend of historic and contemporary, London boasts some of the world’s most famous landmarks while also being on the cutting edge of the modern world.
A city that offers something for everyone, history buffs can indulge in the countless museums (V&A, Imperial War, British, plus many more) and architecture (Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, Big Ben) and delve deep into London’s rich past.
London also boasts a thriving Arts & Culture scene, from the world-famous West End theaters and Tate Modern to more independent expressions of creativity displayed in Shoreditch, Camden Town, and Hackney.
A populous and multi-cultural city, London isn’t all urban density. It has huge expanses of greenery to enjoy walks and picnics.
The only problem with London? There is so much to do, you have to go back more than once! One of the best ways to explore London and see all that you want to, it through booking onto a tour.
Florence, Italy
In a country full of romantic and beautiful cities, Florence might just be the most romantic and beautiful of them all. The capital of Tuscany is an art lover’s dream: Galleria degli Uffizi houses the world’s biggest collection of Italian Renaissance art, while at Galleria dell’Accademia, get close to one of the most famous statues in history – Michelangelo’s David. There are a number of tours on offer to help you to see and explore Florence.
Art isn’t limited to the galleries and museums, with remarkable architecture dominating this compact and historic city, including the iconic Duomo and the Palazzo Vecchio.
This being Tuscany, the food and wine is unrivalled, while fashionistas can shop to their heart’s content in the hometown of Guccio Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo.
Every travel bucket list needs to include this UNESCO World Heritage site in Italy.
Bruges, Belgium
Only a few years ago, this gorgeous medieval city managed to stay relatively low key. However, people have cottoned on and Bruges is now a bustling tourist hot spot, particularly in summer.
It’s easy to see why Bruges has become so popular: historical buildings, picturesque markets, cobble streets and idyllic canals make up much of the landscape.
Be sure to check out the Belfry of Bruges before visiting the market in Burg square. For museum lovers, head to the Groeningemuseum and Museum Sint-Janshospitaal.
Once you visit Bruges, you’ll see what the fuss is about.
Stockholm, Sweden
Stylish and modern with no shortage of history and culture, little wonder tourism is on the rise in Stockholm.
The Swedish capital is well-known for its world class culinary scene and boasts a plethora of galleries and museums showcasing the city’s history and more modern creations.
Major attractions include the Kungliga Slottet (Royal Palace), the Vasamuseet, Moderna Museet (Modern Art Museum), and the Skansen – the world’s first open-air museum where visitors can gain an insight into how Swedes used to live.
For those of us who might struggle to deal with language barriers, fluent English is spoken by the vast majority of Stockholm natives.
The locals often refer to Stockholm as ‘beauty on water’. Plan your trip and see for yourself!
