During my recent visit to Sri Lanka I stayed in four different establishments of Jetwing Hotels. The following is my review of Jetwing Lighthouse and Jetwing Sea.
Jetwing Lighthouse
Situated on the periphery of Galle, Jetwing Lighthouse is true testament of iconic work done by Geoffrey Bawa – a renowned Sri Lankan architect. This elegant establishment is the ideal tropical getaway amidst the sea, sun and sands of the southern coast.
Jetwing Lighthouse radiates a perfect blend of Old World charm and amazing hospitality, mouthwatering cuisines and wide selection of different activities and facilities. The hotel terrace makes an ideal spot to hang out with other guests over drinks while overlooking at the amazing sunset. Right from the spa to the pool, nothing is off the hook in terms of luxury and comfort as the hotel makes its international mark for being a member of the ‘Small Luxury Hotels in the World’.
Check in is on the first floor and you are immediately greeted with magnificent art on the stairwell which depicts the Portuguese arrival to Ceylon. Much different to other hotels where we receive one complimentary drink on arrival, there is actually a choice of 3 drinks when you get to this hotel which shows the grandness of the service.
I stayed in the superior deluxe bedroom – it was big and gave a breathtaking view of the ocean below. The sliding door in my suite offered easy access to the washing area. The downer was that the air conditioner control was far from my bed which turned to be a bit annoying when I had to adjust it. The Brisbane based Advanced Clean-Air have experts that one can hire to get their air conditioners cleaned and have clean and good quality air in the room.
There was a notable incident – upon arriving from a walk to Galle, the staff surprised me with a “honeymoon” cake in my room…although I was traveling alone. Was rather disappointed when they took it back after I confirmed. They actually had to send the cake to the room adjacent to mine.
Buffet breakfast has a plethora of options including Sri Lankan, Continental and American as well as a variety of creamy milkshakes and yogurts.
Rock dining at this hotel is something set to give you a memorable experience and one sure to take your breath away. The rock dining allows a limited number of guests the opportunity to dine under the bright shinny stars.
The main restaurant in this establishment is Cardamom cafe which mostly serves breakfast and dinner in buffet style. During my time there, the fine dining restaurant was closed because of a wedding.
The spa treatment at Jetwing Lighthouse is probably the best Sri Lanka has to offer and lives beyond its expectation of proving unmatched luxury treatments to make you feel and heal better. The spa is nicely nestled in a corner within the hotel, and it opens daily from 9am to 8pm. The spa menu includes renowned signature therapies that are sure to keep the doctor away. Longer staying guests can arrange for different tailor-made programs to suit them.
The hotel has two swimming pools on the premises – the larger being the main pool and the smaller for kids.

Jetwing Sea
Jetwing has five hotels In Negombo – four of them are located along the Negombo Beach stretch and Jetwing Sea being the furthest from the main center. The other one is located near the Negombo and is named Jetwing Lagoon.
If you are looking for an accommodation option that is quiet and peaceful but at the same providing a plenty of amenities similar to those provided by other luxury hotels in the region, this is your place.
Jetwing Sea is ideally situated on the coastline of the Negombo beach which a perfect blend of a cozy ambience and modern elegance. Its excellent location makes it the ideal destination for romantic vacations as well as honeymoons.
The hotel offers an ultimate vocational experience combined with stunning ocean views, a dazzling golden beach at your doorstep as well as endless list of in-house facilities and comforts. Staff is very friendly and extremely helpful; rooms are beautifully furnished and decorated in brown and white to provide travelers with luxury comfort to ensure a lasting impression.
You can pamper yourself by visiting the spa on the roof top when you can get the opportunity to experience fine and relaxing Sri Lankan massages, which are meant to be an unforgettable experience. You can also immerse yourself in the fine cuisines offered by this establishment, relax in the cool pool or take a swim in the ocean and give yourself the holiday of a lifetime.
Rooms are spacious, clean and have suites. I particularly loved the glowing light over the bath tub and enjoyed the matching blend with the white and brown walls.
Dining and breakfast options were in buffet style, but nothing different from what I had previously experienced in the other Jetwing Hotels. Different cuisines catering for different travelers.
If you are a traveler who prefers seclusion, and would love a place that is peaceful without a decibel of noise, I’d recommend putting up at Jetwing Lagoon instead of this rather busy and noisy outfit. Over there the price of accommodation will be much higher but you’ll still get unparalleled Sri Lankan hospitality and amazing facilities.
Be sure to enjoy the sunset view, it’s one of the best scenic views to spot in this tiny island paradise.
