Goa is also known as Gomantak. The western state of Goa, outlining the coastline of Arabian Sea, has its history dating back to the age of Mahabharata and the more recent Portuguese colonial heritage. The esoteric nature of such medley results in a very strange cultural amalgamation. 4 days in Goa sound really whirlwind however we will try to fit in the best of both the world in the Goa itinerary. Ample dose of sunshine, frolicking amid stunning nature and hopping from one to another UNESCO heritage site, Goa is more than a perfect holiday! Here is a 4 day itinerary in Goa for you covering some of the unmissable beaches to exploring the exotic beaches.
Day 1 in Goa – Explore Baga Beach and surrounding area
Baga beach is the longest stretch of beach in Goa and is one of the popular beaches in India for weddings. However, due to its proximity to the main market, it gets particularly crowded. Candolim or the end stretches are Baga are still not as frequented by tourists as the centre of Baga.
Take a stroll at the Baga beach and stop at Tito’s for lunch. You may also choose to eat at one of the multiple shacks dotting Baga beach. If you are heading to Goa during Monsoon, Baga is the only place where you can take a dip in the sea.
For evening, you can sign up for a river cruise on Mandovi river. A sun-downer party from the cruise is a worthwhile experience.
For dinner head towards LPK Waterfront, often hailed as the best nightclub of India!
Day 2 – Exploring the beaches and forts of North Goa
Start your day with a hearty breakfast plate of German bread and buffalo cheese at Lila Cafe.
This day is all about riding to the scenic countryside of North Goa, mostly loved by foreign backpackers and renting a scooter for the day. Depending on the demand of the season, scooter renting prices fluctuate. However you should be able to seal the deal within INR 250.
Head straight towards the Arambol beach. A rather scenic and calm beach, mostly frequented by Russians, Arambol is a nice beach to experience the Sea. On your way back stop by at the legendary Chapora fort, Aguada Fort and beautiful Vagator beach too. At Vagator beach multiple water sports take place, from paragliding to water taxi.
Anjuna is one of the finest beaches in India to watch a stunning sunset. It is a rocky beach and you will not be able to get down to the water.
Day 3 – Trekking to the Dudhsagar Falls
Two days by the Sea, it is time to head for a scenic adventure up to the hills at Dudhsagar Falls. Mist and dense forest, lush green foliage cover this steep fall which comes to full valour during monsoon. Dudhsagar falls can be accessed by jeep (ensure to book beforehand) or by a quick train ride. The accent to the fall is through steep rocky terrain for a few KM. On top, there is a natural pool where you can swim provided the water flow is tame.
Visiting Dudhsagar falls is highly recommended. However, during monsoon, the park is closed to visitors. Hence, you can also take the scenic train ride which shows you glimpses of the stunning fall and beautiful Western Ghats.
Reward yourself with a cozy dinner at Brittos after a tiring day at the Dudhsagar!
Day 4 – South Goa
Any itinerary in Goa is incomplete without a day trip to the deep south of the state. Today, ditch the bike and rent a car. Stop by at any one of the pristine southern beaches: Colva, Velsao, Bogmalo. Make sure to indulge in a hearty lunch at the iconic Martin’s Corner.
